Local manufacturing company seeks a Fabricator to join their team. Fabricator lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and various industry parts by performing the following duties.
Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job.
Studies engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences
Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded.
Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together
Verifies conformance of work pieces to specifications using squares, rulers and measuring tapes.
Fabricates product by cutting, burning and using specified welding techniques, appropriate welding equipment on various metals.
Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
Must have at least 5-10 years of fitting and welding experience. May be either specific or a combination of aluminum, stainless steel, iron and/or other alloys.
Must be able to interpret blue prints.
Must have a strong working knowledge of welding symbols.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Completion of formal vocational-tech program or completion of in-company training to satisfaction of supervisor or 2- 3 years of documented work in field of applicant.
Must be able to pass a welder qualification test per code of construction.
Must be able to pass a fabricators written exam with a score of at least 80%.
